My name is Rachel Nelson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over ten years of experience, serving people who battle with mood disorders, low self-esteem, personal growth, anger, spiritualty, trauma, parent/child concerns and marital/relationship concerns. My formal education, at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, equipped me to launch my career in therapeutic foster care, where I assisted children in adjusting to temporary care and worked with families on reunification. From there, I began working in the outpatient community health setting, expanding my clientele to working with children, teens, and adults, experiencing a broad range and severity of mental health concerns.
Being sensitive to the many approaches to therapy, I most often use cognitive-behavioral, person centered, and dialectical behavioral techniques in sessions. I strive to create a welcoming, relaxed, non-judgmental environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring the roots of problems, gain new perspectives, and learn the skills needed to become a better you. My goal is to aid clients in developing a peace of mind, inner strength and an active plan to live the life they desire.
